The Tests of General Educational Development (GED) are developed by the American Council on Education to enable persons who have not graduated from high school to demonstrate the attainment of abilities normally associated with completion of a high school program of study.
Individual must pre-register at least one week before the test at the School Board Office. Please call Kathy Phillips at 757-833-2259 to make an appointment to register.
The GED Battery includes five tests. The tests focus on the major use of skills and concepts rather than upon recall of specific facts. The questions focus on the general abilities to analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions. The subject areas of the tests are as follows:

Official GED practice tests will be:
Sept through May - every Friday at 9 a.m. at the LLLC at York High School
After June Graduation until Sept. - every other Friday, they are free.
Requirements for taking the GED Test
Individual must be a resident of Virginia and at least 18 years old.
Individual must have a government issued photo ID and a Social Security card.
Individual must have cash or money order for $45.00.
