We
would like to welcome you to second grade at Coventry Elementary School. We have
many exciting activities planned for the new school year. We will be reading many
wonderful books including nonfiction, biographies, adventures, and mysteries.
We will be writing paragraphs, letters, stories, and poems. In math we will memorize
addition and subtraction facts to 18, learn to add and subtract with regrouping, and study
other math topics like fractions, money, time and geometry. We will be studying
communities, maps, American Indians, and ancient Egypt and China. In science we will
do experiments, grow plants, and raise butterflies. We are looking forward to
meeting you at our Open House scheduled for the last week of August.
In the meantime you can check out our
supply list below and start getting ready for the exciting year ahead. You can also
prepare for the new school year by reading lots of books. Relax and enjoy the summer
vacation. The 2007-2008 school year begins on Tuesday, September 4th, with
many interesting activities in store for our second graders.
