FIELD TRIP
On Monday, April 21 all band students who
returned a permission card will be attending a concert at York High
School. We will be seeing a performance by the South African
Defense Force Joint Services Band.
UPDATED CALENDAR
The dates for
Intermediate Band rehearsals and the Prefestival Concert have changed.
Intermediate and Advanced students received an updated calendar in
class at the beginning of April. There are no changes to the beginning band schedule.
2008 DISTRICT BAND
Congratulations
to the students that were selected as members of the 2008 District
Band! There were 28 students selected from Grafton Middle. There were
7 students selected as first alternates. We had more students
selected as members than any other middle school in our
district!
Percussion Supplies
Percussionists had the
opportunity to purchase drum sticks and mallets for a discounted rate
through the band. There are still items available for purchase at school. Email Mrs. Stone for more information.
KINGS DOMINION
The advanced band and eighth grade band students will be traveling to
Kings Dominion on Saturday, May 3. Information about the second payment
will be going home on Tuesday, April 22 and will be due back on
Wednesday, April 30.
POINT AWARD
Point award worksheets are due on April 30. A form is available online on the document page.
LESSONS
Should a band student take private
lessons? Absolutely! There is no replacement for the one on one
instruction that a student receives from a private teacher. Please
contact the band directors for teacher recommendations.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRAFTON HIGH
SCHOOL BAND WIND ENSEMBLE!
They performed at the
Virginia Music Educator's Conference on November 15, 2007. Only
two HS bands from the entire state of Virgnia are invited each
year. This is a magnificent HONOR!
MENTOR PROGRAM
The mentor
program list is available at school to the beginning band
students. Please review the guidelines before contacting a HS
instructor.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Should a
band student take private lessons? YES! Please contact the
directors for private teacher recommendations.
FUNDRAISER
Thank you
for your efforts with the Virginia Diner Sale! We did very well due to the efforts of our wonderful students and parents.
GOT NEW INSTRUMENTS?
Any
students who wish to purchase an instrument should seek the
advice of the band directors or their private teacher. They can help you find a quality
instrument at a good price.
