Next time you visit Magruder Elementary, take a moment to look at their rain barrel at the front entrance. The rain barrel was made by a former student, Guy Falcione, and installed by the maintenance department. During our recent drought this summer, the faculty used the water to sustain the bushes and the PTA even used it to water plants they had planted near the MES sign.
Quick Rain Barrel Stat: One-inch of rainfall on a 1,000 square-foot roof generates 623 gallons of runoff. In the summer months, a typical household's water use goes to watering gardens and lawns.
