Zwick's Chicks

Students in Mr. Zwick's 5th Grade Class are busy watching and recording the hatching of their baby chickens.

March 6- Day 1

13 eggs arrived from the County 4 H - We set up the incubator.

Day 2

We checked the temperature and recorded it on our log. It was 100  degrees

We learned how to do candling.

Incubated eggs are candled to determine whether they are fertile and, if fertile, to check the growth and development of the embryo.

We look at the development of the chick. The eggs are no longer turned . It is almost time for the chicks to hatch !!!

   Chicks begin to hatch

The chicks are waiting for their brother to hatch.

Six have hatched. We are waiting for 4 more.
