Hello
and welcome!
Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself and give some insight
into my
background. To the right, you will see pictures of me and a couple of
pictures
of my buddy, Dioji (to pronounce his name just spell the word D-O-G
out) who is
a Jake Russell Rat Terrier mix, also known as a Jack Rat.
My brother and I grew up as "military
brats" we moved
and traveled to different states and countries including many overseas. I
have been to around 17 different schools in my lifetime. My father, an
officer, retired from the Army. I attended Old
Dominion University
and
graduated with
a degree in Fine Arts, and I am currently at the College
of William
and Mary
in the Master's EPPL program.
I have been
making art all my life. My mother, who loved to paint with
oils,
encouraged me to be an artist from a very early age. I still remember
my parents taking me to a Gallery in San Fransisco and getting to met my first professional artist around five,
he signed his book for me (which I still have today) and he talked to
me as though I was already an artist. I have never forgotten about his
impressionistic clowns or that experience. I always doodled even on my
notes in high school and sometimes I still do! My favorite
mediums are
pottery, drawing, acrylic painting, crafts and of course digital
photography.
After
eight years
in of teaching in Texas, I
moved back to Virginia,
to be closer to family....and it was REALLY HOT in Texas.
While in Texas,
I taught high school, junior high school and classes
at Laguna
Gloria. I
even had the privilege of being a full time Artist in Residence
with
the Austin Museum
of Art for a year. That was a truly remarkable experience!
I look forward
to working with you.... Lets have a great year making art!
