Level I
Level I modern foreign language courses provide an introduction to culture, elementary grammar, conversational skill development, and introductory reading and writing in the language. Level I Latin is a study of grammatical patterns and vocabulary with introductory translation of Latin stories.

Level II
Level II modenn foreign language courses include
cultural studies, intermediate grammar, conversational
skill development, and intermediate reading and
composition in the language. Level II Latin emphasizes
advanced grammatical and literary forms.

Level III
Level III modern foreign language courses include cultural studies, advanced grammar, conversational skill development, and advanced reading and composition in the language. Level III Latin provides a review of grammar and the beginning of literature with seasonal writings and the works of Pliny and Cicero in Latin.

Level IV
Level IV foreign language courses include cultural students, literature, and other advanced reading , conversational skill development, and interpretive and expressive composition. Level IV Latin presents a study of Virgil and other poets.

Level V
Level V modern foreign language courses are taken as independent study courses with the consent and under the direction of the instructor. These courses focus on advanced literary works and conversation.

Directed Study
Foreign language directed study is in-depth study designed to explore, with the consent and direction of the teacher, a specific topic or area in the foreign language. These courses do not replace any upper level of foreign language study (may be continued).
