Sponsored Activites

TABB HIGH SCHOOL
Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)

AFTER PROM: is an all night, drug and alcohol free, chaperoned party for our seniors and their guests after the Senior Prom (Prom attendance is not required to attend After Prom).  This year’s After Prom Committee is looking for parent volunteers from all grades!  See the After Prom link for more information.

ARTS IN EDUCATION – REFLECTIONS: is a National PTA sponsored contest in the arts, including categories in literature, visual arts, music, photography, dance choreography, and film/video production.  See the Reflections link for more information.

ARTS IN EDUCATION – CITIZENSHIP:  is a Virginia PTA sponsored contest that allows students to express their views and opinions on character or citizenship.  See the Citizenship link for more information.

ORANGE CRUSH: is a TABB High only innovation to encourage students to join PTSA and participate in the support of their school – the “S” in PTSA stands for “Student”.  Each student who joins PTSA in his/her own name automatically becomes a member of Orange Crush.  Monthly Orange Crush Fridays are being planned for this year where each student member will receive a special treat.

ACADEMIC PAWS: is another TABB High only program.  A specially designed Tiger Paw is painted in front of the homes to recognize those students who excel academically.

VOLUNTEERS: PTSA coordinates scheduling of volunteers school wide.  There is something for everyone, so join our THS team of volunteers!  See the Volunteers link for more information.

TIGER FRIENDS: is a PTSA sponsored volunteer program that provides Tabb High students the opportunity to perform community service in the form of tutoring at Tabb Elementary School.  These high school students are matched with students and spend time reading, doing math, playing games, and sometimes just talking with younger Tabb Tigers.  Some of the students fulfill service requirements for various organizations and honors programs, but the majority of volunteers in the program are involved just because it is a great way to spend their time.  The elementary students look forward to having a teenage tutor and the teachers appreciate having another set of hands in the classroom.  Applications to become a Tiger Friend are found in the main office and new volunteers are accepted throughout the school year.

HOSPITALITY:  This committee works to show appreciation to our faculty and staff at Tabb.  A number of events are planned throughout the year, including a welcome back brunch, quarterly staff luncheons, and staff & teacher appreciation week surprises.  A birthday cake is provided quarterly to celebrate all birthdays during that time.  This committee has also reached out to support our Tabb community in times of tragedy.  We receive the most volunteers to support this committee – a reflection of the respect our parents have for the faculty and staff at Tabb High and for the Tabb community.

FACILITY: is a new committee this year.  PTSA will be providing support to the new principal in her efforts to spruce up the building and grounds.  Some potential projects include planting additional small bushes and trees and interior painting.  Adult and student volunteers are welcome on this committee!  See the Facility link for more information.
