Inventions & Innovations
Inventions and Innovations is an 18-week, semester long course for
7th and 8th
graders. The focus of this course is invention and
innovation technology.
Students study tools and machines, power
and energy, transportation, and communication. Students appy
skills with individual creativity to create models and
inventions. 
Some of this is accomplished through the following activities:

Designing and building a catapult--Design
Brief
Design and
presentation of a Rube Goldberg cartoon
Computer
design of a new tool
Creation of a class company and the production of a prototype primarily
using recycled materials
Recycled
Invention Design Brief and Recycled Invention
Rubric
Studying space technology and building solid propellant rockets
launched to a 500 foot altitude
Completion of 4 activities known as modules--
These are 7-day team activities that
are part of the Technological Systems course. Modules completed
in inventions and innovations are NOT
repeated when taking the Technological Systems course.
