The focus of the school year will be integrating science, mathematics, and technology to process skills, to apply the scientific method, and to develop experimental designs. Students will construct experimental design diagrams, conduct experiments, collect data, compile data tables, analyze graphs, and present conclusions throughout the year while investigating different topic areas. (SOL 6.1 Scientific Reasoning)

At the beginning of the science textbook, there is a complete list of the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for the Grade 6 Science.  We will analyze and assess each unit in preparation for the State SOL test given in the eighth grade.

If there isn’t any homework, the student will write “none” in the science block of the agenda planner. The student will keep a science “lab” notebook of all topic handouts and homework assignments in a three ringed green binder.

Quarterly Evaluation Criteria:

 40%-tests
 30% quizzes
 20% classwork

Please check the agenda often as teacher notes, assignments, test scores, and test dates are recorded daily.  My e-mail is at the top of the syllabus, please feel free to contact me with any questions or updates.
