The focus of the school year will be integrating science, mathematics,
and technology to process skills, to apply the scientific method, and
to develop experimental designs. Students will construct experimental
design diagrams, conduct experiments, collect data, compile data
tables, analyze graphs, and present conclusions throughout the year
while investigating different topic areas. (SOL 6.1 Scientific
Reasoning)
At the beginning of the science textbook, there is a complete list of
the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for the Grade 6 Science.
We will analyze and assess each unit in preparation for the State SOL
test given in the eighth grade.

Students are expected to do homework when assigned. Homework is copied
in the agenda planner provided by the school. If there isn’t any
homework, the student will write “none” in the science
block of the agenda planner. The student will keep a science
“lab” notebook of all topic handouts and homework
assignments in a three ringed green binder.
Quarterly Evaluation Criteria:
40%-tests
30% quizzes
20% classwork
10%-homework
Please check the agenda often as teacher notes, assignments, test
scores, and test dates are recorded daily. My e-mail is at the
top of the syllabus, please feel free to contact me with any questions
or updates.
