Hola, estudiantes y familias,

¡Muchas gracias! With your help, Spanish 2 students hosted more than 200 visitors in "Spain" Thursday. They played fierce games of Jai Alai, signed autographs as a famous "matador" (or, in some cases, his bull), served hundreds of orders of "pan," "salchichón," and Fanta. The bravest eaters tried "aceitunas" (olives). Students also saw an enormous drawing of the Segovia aqueduct and Picasso-style YMS drawings made by Spanish 1 students. The café featured music from Spain, which was enough to transform the atmosphere in the hall.

It took about 6 volunteers to keep the food moving, not to mention the students. Special thanks to all-day help from Mrs. Becker. We will sure miss you next year, 8th grade parents!

Our year wraps up with a bunch of deadlines. However, SOLs in core subjects take precedence over everything. It's possible that some classes will simply not meet often enough next week to get through our list.

• Index cards -- the collection is due for grading Monday (starts with Chapter 4
• grammar folders -- will be checked this week
• Final exam -- multiple-choice test is the last day of class. Other portions to be held as soon as Tuesday (oral; possibly the written portion as well)
• Book due -- last day of school, or sooner if your child is done using it.
