1:1 Technology Program Updates

Beginning this school year, YCSD will provide all students in grades 3-12 with a division-issued device as part of the division’s 1:1 technology program. As shared on May 13, 2026, the division has eliminated the bring your own devices (BYOD) program.

This change builds on the division’s successful use of student devices since 2020 and reflects valuable teacher feedback and ongoing conversations with families. By standardizing devices across the division, schools can maintain consistent expectations for student use, reduce instructional distractions, and provide clearer support that maintain the focus on learning.

Also beginning this school year, YCSD will expand the use of Securly Classroom to include students in grades 3-5. Securly Classroom is a tool that helps teachers support student learning and engagement during technology-based lessons. It allows teachers to guide students to instructional resources and help keep students focused on classroom activities.
