Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan serves as the roadmap for our school division’s continued growth, innovation, and success. Grounded in our mission, vision, and core values, the plan reflects our commitment to ensuring every student is valued, supported, and challenged through meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for a successful future.

Developed through collaboration with students, staff, families, and community members, the Strategic Plan outlines the priorities, goals, and actions that guide our work across all schools and departments. Through a focus on student achievement, supportive learning environments, highly effective staff, and strong community partnerships, we are building a future where all students and staff are empowered to thrive.

Plan Development

Development of the FY23-27 Strategic Plan began during the 2021-22 school year with a goal to create a clear, focused, and measurable plan reflecting our community's priority to maintain an excellent, high-performing school system. The division partnered with Insight Education, a firm with 20+ years of experience in school district strategic planning, to facilitate this work.

The process unfolded in three stages: pre-work, design and implementation.

Pre-work

Conduct Needs Assessment

  • Analyze the data
  • Collect feedback
  • Gather insights

Design

Draft New Plan

  • Develop Theory of Action
  • Define district priorities
  • Identify measurable goals

Implement

Define Initiatives

  • Identify action steps
  • Manage and report on progress of implementation (FY23 through FY27)

Recognizing the importance of stakeholder input, the division engaged students, families, staff, and community members throughout the process.

A Stakeholder Survey identified five top priorities:

Recruitment and retention of staff

Personalized pathways for students

Safety and security

Preparing students for life after high school

Student mental health and wellness

A Steering Committee, composed of school board office staff, administrators, teachers, families, community members, and students, met monthly from January through May.

Focus Groups gathered feedback in April to refine the plan's priorities.

A Public Hearing in May allowed final community input before the Board's adoption of the plan in June.

The resulting plan aims to:

Convey a clear vision - what the division aspires to do.

Define the mission - who we serve, what we do, and how we achieve our vision.

Highlight our core values - a set of beliefs which matter most to our community.

Identify our strategic priorities - broad focus areas of work.
