YCSD Schools Closed - October 3, 2022

The York County School Division is monitoring weather conditions and forecasts, specifically tidal flooding forecasts that may affect portions of our county and surrounding communities. Based on these forecasts, all schools and buildings will be closed for students and staff tomorrow, Monday, October 3, 2022. Essential staff should report as directed by supervisors.


YCSD After-school Activities Canceled - September 30, 2022

All YCSD after-school activities and athletics for Friday, September 30, are canceled. Childcare programs operating on school campuses will communicate scheduling changes, if any, to participating families. Saturday events will continue as scheduled unless otherwise announced by individual programs.


Shining a Light on Student Mental Wellness Family Forum

The York County School Division, in partnership with the York County PTA, is hosting a mental health forum for families and students from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 at Grafton Middle School.


2023 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists

We are pleased to announce that Alice Fang and Joshua Way have been named semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These talented high school seniors are recognized among the best students in our nation. Alice and Joshua entered the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.


Tabb Elementary Earns National Honor

Tabb Elementary School (TES) has been named a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education as an Exemplary High-Performing School. The National Blue Ribbon program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools for their overall excellence and progress toward closing achievement gaps.


2022 NOAA Grant

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded the York County School Division (YCSD) $225,000 through its highly competitive grant application process. The grant program entitled, Fostering Bay Stewardship by Building Capacity to Lead Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs), supports the division's mission of ensuring every student is valued, supported, and challenged through learning experiences, which prepare them for a successful future.

Tabb High School Students Win the 2022 National KidWind Challenge

Members of Tabb High School’s Gone with the Wind team shared their experience earning the title of National Champions in this year’s KidWind Challenge during Monday night’s School Board meeting. The team, several of whom have competed together since fifth grade, faced 60 teams from across the country during the American Clean Power (ACP) 2022 Conference in San Antonio. This competition was the culminating event for the KidWind Challenge season, which consisted of local, regional and state challenges. Over the course of the three-day national event, Tabb High School’s highly skilled students were tested on their knowledge of renewable energy, their design and problem-solving skills, and their wind turbines’ energy output by a team of 30 educators and industry professionals.

Bruton High School CTE Superstar

Meet one of YCSD’s future ready graduates! This summer, Bruton High rising senior Ayanna Moore participated in the FBLA National Convention in Chicago followed by a New York City trip for the Mercy College Business Honors Summer Leadership Academy. The program was for high-achieving juniors/rising seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. While there she experienced college life firsthand, learning about business careers from those who have worked at Fortune 500 companies across the globe. She made such an impression that she’s already been offered a spot in the college’s business honors program.
