York County School Division Invited to Join White House Digital Promise InitiativePosted on: Thursday, September 29, 2011On Friday, September 16, at the invitation of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Eric Williams, Ed.D., superintendent of York County School Division (YCSD), attended the White House announcement of a national Digital Promise initiative to use technology to support learning. Digital Promise is a new national center created by Congress with bipartisan support to advance technologies that can transform teaching and learning. The initiative is being lead by a number of prominent leaders in education and technology. The Digital Promise initiative will focus on three key challenges: Identifying breakthrough technologies, Learning faster what’s working and what’s not and Transforming the market for learning technologies. |

Tabb Middle Selected for WHRO’s "School Talk Monthly"Posted on: Thursday, September 29, 2011On September 26, Susan Rhew, principal of Tabb Middle School (TMS) was notified that TMS has been selected as the Middle School of the Month for WHRO’s “School Talk Monthly” program for the month of October. Each month, WHRO produces a 30-minute magazine program for educators called “School Talk Monthly.” This national award-winning program features one-on-one interviews with outstanding educators and students, on-location segments highlighting exciting school projects and activities, video clips and Internet sites for teachers correlated to Virginia Standards of Learning and upcoming professional development events. Each month, four local schools (one elementary, middle, high, and independent) are recognized on the show as Schools of the Month. |
