Scooby Doo and the Missing Part of Speech

Seaford Elementary School (SES) third grade teachers and school principal, Edward Holler, were all featured in the performance "Scooby Doo and the Missing Part of Speech" along with all the third grade students. The musical performance was under the direction of music teacher Judy Mitchell. The musical explores nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs and even prepositions while solving a mystery.

First graders at Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES) watch with awe as the butterflies were released. The students have been following the life cycle of the butterfly as part of their science classes.


Tabb Elementary Supports the American Heart Association

Students and teachers at Tabb Elementary School (TES) raised $11,634.99 for the American Heart Association to provide research to help fight heart disease and stroke. TES has been a continuous supporter of the American Heart Association donating over $100,000 since 2003.


Yorktown Middle is GOING GREEN

Yorktown Middle School (YMS) students, Kaitlyn Wauzinski, Samantha Renshaw and Trysta Cassidy, were concerned about the use of styrofoam plates in the cafeteria and the environmental impact of them. Student petitions opposing the use of styrofoam plates were collected and presented to administration. Kaitlyn, Samantha, Trysta and YMS adminstration met with Aramark representatives, along with vendor representatives from Riverside Paper and Genpack on April 12. The students and vendor representatives exchanged ideas for the YMS cafeteria "Going Green."

Kindergartners in Kristi Thompson's kindergarten class at Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES) treated Dawn Midkiff, the school nurse, with special personalized greeting cards to celebrate Nurses Day! Ms. Midkiff is very beloved by the students and staff at GBES!


State Superintendents’ Summit 2011

Relay for Life/Royal Wedding Hat Day

Cathy Wright and Heather Steinmiller of York High School (YHS) smile as they wear hats to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. For a $1.00 donation, teachers and students were allowed to wear their favorite head covering as part of the ongoing fundraising effort for Relay for Life.

Tabb High Wins Alion Science and Technology Grant

Alion Science and Technology Corporation has awarded Tabb High School (THS) with a grant. York County Supervisor, Tom Shepperd and Operations Manager, Steve Miller of Alion presented the $2,500 grant check to Angie Seiders and THS during a short ceremony on April 29. The grant will be used for an "Ecosystem Exploration Project" in the science department and the "Hands on Solid of Rotation/Revolution" and "FUN Functions" projects in the math department.
