THS Celebrates DECA DayPosted on: Friday, November 12, 2010November 9th was DECA Day at Tabb High School (THS) and across the state. DECA, an association of marketing students, is the co-curricular student organization for the Fashion, Sports and General Marketing programs. Each year in November, students ramp up their efforts to bring recognition to the club and its activities. This year members wore their We Run DECA t-shirts and sponsored a DECA trivia contest and ice cream social. |
TES Science Class Models the EarthPosted on: Friday, November 12, 2010Students in LaVerne Day's science class at Tabb Elementary School (TES) enjoyed using clay to make a model of the layers of the Earth. While they worked, they listened to a hip-hop song from Rhythm, Rhyme, Results! The lyrics of the song detail the make up of the layers of the Earth. After completing their models, the students sliced open their mini earths to reveal the earth’s layers. |
GBES Lego Team Wins at Regional CompetitionPosted on: Friday, November 12, 2010The Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES) Lego Team won the VA-DC Newport News Regional championship on Saturday, November 6th, and will advance to the state championships on December 4th and 5th in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Team members are: Bryce Graca, Ethan Constantino, Jasmine Patel, Lexi Christie, Sami Wanderer, Shane Dunn, Gaby DiGangi, Timothy Asher, Brayden Hodges and Gage Mazaika. The GBES Lego Team coaches are Steve Bauer, Dillon Wilbert, Carol Bauer and Carol McKisson. |

Green Gurus at YESPosted on: Friday, November 05, 2010Yorktown Elementary School (YES) students attended a camp this past summer held at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). During the week long program, entitled Green Gurus, students participated in a number of activities and projects surrounding recycling, stewardship and community service that would benefit the Chesapeake Bay. One of these projects was to decorate a recycling bin. VIMS donated the painted recycling bin to YES to encourage conservation and promote programs dedicated to saving the bay. |
WMES Students GO GREEN during Red Ribbon WeekPosted on: Friday, November 05, 2010Students at Waller Mill Elementary School (WMES) are Going Green during Red Ribbon Week! The Home Depot on Mooretown Road donated materials for the school's recycling project. Students will decorate the donated recycling bins and place them in classrooms, the cafeteria, office and lounge. The theme to kick off their event will be: GO GREEN! Don't let DRUGS pollute your life. |
