The Freedom Shrine shows various copies of important historical documents and is created by the national Exchange Club to strengthen citizen education of our American Heritage. The York High Freedom Shrine was generously provided through donations from the Exchange Club of York and Langley Federal Credit Union. |

Pork for York - and Chicken too!Posted on: Friday, November 05, 2010Join the York High School PTSA for the "Pork for York - and Chicken Too!" tailgate BBQ dinner before the Grafton High School versus York High School football game on Friday, November 12th, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The tailgate is open to the entire community and will feature food from Smokin' Joes (dine in or take out). Tickets are only $10 and are available by contacting Pandie Howell at 234-6429 or Angie Zabicki at 234-0961. The event will be held between the baseball field and Bailey Field and will be moved to the cafeteria if inclement weather occurs. |
BHS Safety Council Promotes AwarenessPosted on: Friday, November 05, 2010The Bruton High School (BHS) Safety Council involves students, staff, and school leaders in building a foundation of school safety. The Safety Council uses school outreach, collaboration, student leadership, and positive prevention and intervention programs to further develop a safe school community. Through education and peer leadership, the Safety Council strives to foster a positive relationship between school groups, break-down stereotypes, and build resiliency among all students. The council will promote a new safety theme each month. The 2010-2011 school year themes are: November - K2 Spice Awareness; December - Drug Prevention; January - Suicide Prevention; February - Bullying Prevention; March - Driving Safety; April - Positive Relationships; and May - Sober Prom/Graduation. |
Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence AwardPosted on: Friday, November 05, 2010Recently, school liaison officers who compile the Joint Military Services School Liaison Committee of Hampton Roads won exemplary honors at the 12th Annual Military Child Education Coalition. David Wiker, Langley Air Force Base School Liaison Officer, Roland Taylor, Chief of Airman and Family Services, Katrina Patterson, Yorktown Weapon Station School Liaison Officer, and Charlie French, Fort Monroe School Liaison Officer, attended the September 27th York County School Division Board meeting to recognize the division for their military partnership programs. The division was presented the Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award for the second time in the past four years. |
