Yorktown Middle Shows International Flair

Calling upon their Spanish language skills, along with their human ingenuity, students in Nancy Feigenbaum's sixth grade Middle Years Program Spanish class at Yorktown Middle School immersed themselves in Hispanic culture. Joined by a team of parent volunteers, students researched and cooked cultural delights, including yucca, flan and churros. In between cooking and sampling, students cut crepe paper in the style of "papel picado," a traditional Mexican folk art, and created a Spanish language menu. This exercise provided a fun application of students' cultural and linguistic knowledge.
