CLASSICS Club Throws Pies for Charity

Posted On: Friday, February 26, 2010

The CLASSICS Club (Character, Leadership, Academics, Sportsmanship, Service, Inclusiveness, Compassion and Sisterhood) instigated an unusual fundraising event at Yorktown Middle School (YMS). The faces of YMS teachers were pasted onto cans and placed in the lobby area. As the student body passed by they dropped money into the cans to select which teacher would be hit in the face with a pie! Five YMS teachers received the pies. The Club raised $150 for the American Heart Association. The CLASSICS Club recognizes students who complete 25 hours of community service by awarding them a bracelet with the infinity symbol. There have been five students to receive their bracelets so far.
