Shoes for Haiti

Posted On: Friday, March 05, 2010

The Explorer Club at Grafton Middle School (GMS) collects shoes. Recently the club gave 330 pairs of shoes to the relief effort in Haiti. The students in the club prepare the shoes by washing, spraying, labeling and packaging them for delivery. COL Davis of the US Army, who is currently stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia, learned of the shoe collecting project and asked if the Club would help with a relief mission to Haiti he was organizing. The students were more than happy to assist in the effort. The GMS students formed a passing line to assist the soldiers in loading the boxes of shoes to be sent to Haiti. The Explorer Club continually collects shoes and anyone is welcomed to drop off gently used shoes at GMS.
