The Virginia Association of Pupil Transportation (VAPT) has named Richard White as first place winner in the association’s first annual Virginia’s Best School Bus Technician competition. Seven Virginia public school districts took part in the competition that consisted of both a school bus technical knowledge written exam and a hands on diagnostic and trouble shooting exercise. Mr. White received a trophy and a cash award of $100 and will represent Virginia at the National Association for Pupil Transportation School Bus Technician’s Training and Skills competition taking place July 2010 in Jasper, Indiana in either the School Bus Technician or School Bus Inspector category. Bob Clinebell, the VAPT organizing chair for the event, said, “We are extremely excited to have had such a successful inaugural contest. Virginia has exceptionally talented and professionally-minded school bus technicians, so we are thrilled to have a format for recognizing these dedicated individuals.”
