Constitution Week at Tabb High

Posted On: Friday, October 15, 2010
Tabb High School (THS) turned Constitution Day into Constitution week. The week began on Monday, Sept. 13 with a “Lunch with Jefferson”. Students had an opportunity to speak with the past president about the constitution during their lunch block. President Thomas Jefferson of Colonial Williamsburg was more than willing to respond to Library Media Specialist, Betty Lynn Darden’s request to visit THS and enlighten the student body. Activities designed to increase awareness of the Constitution and the events surrounding its ratification that took place during the week included daily trivia contest, games and a scavenger hunt. Students stayed after school and searched the building for license plates that contained segments of the Preamble to the Constitution. Once all were located, they arranged them into the correct order for the grand prize. Social Studies teachers, Melinda Sloan and Linnea Terndrup helped organize the activities.
