Watch D.O.G.S.' Pizza Night

Posted On: Thursday, October 28, 2010
The Yorktown Elementary School (YES) Watch D.O.G.S. recently hosted a pizza night. Dads, uncles, grandfathers and other father figures enjoyed dinner with their students and signed up to volunteer at the school. Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers spend at least one day a year at the school where they participate in small group instruction, chaperoning field trips and participating in experiments and activities throughout the school. This is the third year that Watch D.O.G.S. has volunteered at YES and the response has been tremendous. Volunteers are present at YES almost daily and students look forward to having Watch D.O.G.S. in their classrooms.

"WATCH D.O.G.S.® is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that was founded by Jim Moore, a concerned father who chose to take action in response to a 1998 middle-school shooting in Jonesboro, AR." The goal of the Watch D.O.G.S program is to help every school in America be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in lives of their children and students.
