MES Students Show Gratitude

Posted On: Friday, December 03, 2010
As part of the National School Psychology Awareness Week in November, students at Magruder Elementary School (MES) participated in the Gratitude Works Program. This gratitude project, led by Kate Lubrano, School Guidance Counselor, and Genevieve Hunter, School Psychology Intern, helped Magruder students and staff realize the true meaning of Thanksgiving. The students wrote enough notes of gratitude to fill a box and wrote 309 letters of gratitude to a wide variety of public servants, parents, members of the military and friends. Students and staff also outlined their hands and wrote statements of gratitude that later served as the feathers on a very large turkey displayed in the hallway for all to see. Responses were received from faraway places, including a hand-written note from Major General Robert E. Milstead, the Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command.
