Tabb Elementary Peer Mediators

Posted On: Thursday, October 15, 2009

Tabb Elementary School’s Peer Mediation Program has been in place for 14 years. Mediators are fifth graders who have been selected by their classmates for their reliability and leadership. The mediators receive training from guidance counselor, Lynn Brothers. They assist students who are experiencing unresolved disagreements with other students. Generally the students refer themselves for mediation, but may also be referred by teachers, administrators or parents. The Peer Mediation Program creates a more peaceful school environment by teaching students non-violent ways to handle conflict.
