On Saturday, April 9, the Grafton High School’s (GHS) Future Business Leaders Association (FBLA) attended their annual State Conference in Reston, VA. With over 12,000 FBLA members in the state of Virginia, the Grafton High Chapter was awarded the honor of 3rd largest chapter in the state with 192 members. GHS also received the Honor Chapter designation. Each competitive event has twenty top students from across the eleven regions of the state. Students compete for the five top awards in each event. Congratulations to the following students: Morgan Irons - 4th place in Public Speaking I; James O'Neal and Bahaa Hamze - 4th place in Desktop Publishing; Christian Howe - 3rd Place in Networking Concepts. The following students won first place in the state and will move on to the National FBLA Competition in Orlando, Florida in June: Connor Cormier – 1st Place in Accounting I; Rand Irons – 1st Place in the Future Business Leader event, the top event of the State Conference. This year Rand Irons has served as a state vice-president representing the TNCC region of the state of Virginia and he was awarded the honor of Who's Who in FBLA. Rand has been a 1st place state winner in four different competitive events during his four years of high school.
