Virginia Music Educators Blue Ribbon Music School Award for Tabb High

On March 19, Tabb High School’s (THS) Girls Ensemble participated in the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) District 8 Choral Assessment. This is a state choral singing assessment that has choral students being adjudicated against a national standard.
 
The THS Girls Ensemble received all Superior ratings in their performance and sight-reading. Two weeks earlier the THS Symphonic Band received all Superior ratings at their Band Assessment. Because of the these two group's accomplishments, Tabb High School will now be presented with the Virginia Music Educators Blue Ribbon Music School Award.
 
The THS Band and Chorus also participated in the Fiesta-Val Music Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on April 15th and 16th. The THS Chorus Department brought home the 1st Place - Women's Choir - Superior Rating; 1st Place - Jazz Choir - Superior Rating and were named Grand Champion of Festival while Director Gordon Parr was awarded the "Award of Musical Distinction."
 
The THS Band under the direction of Adam Waller proudly brought home the following awards: Concert Band, Excellent Rating, 3rd Place: Division V; Symphonic Band, Superior Rating, 2nd Place: Open division; Jazz Ensemble, Excellent Rating, 2nd Place: Division III; Percussion Ensemble, Superior Rating, 1st Place: Open Division. Additionally, the following students received individual accolades: Jesse Sledge: Outstanding Soloist award – oboe; Ann Chesley: Outstanding Soloist award – piano
