The Mentorship Experience

Posted On: Thursday, December 03, 2009

The Career Mentorship program at Tabb High School gives students the opportunity to gain first hand experience in a career field they may have an interest in pursuing after school. The program helps students secure mentors that are willing to work with the students in their chosen career field to complete a project, learn valuable skills and discover if this is really the career they want to pursue in the future. Students are required to complete a minimum of 140 hours during the school year at the job site and present a culminating product/project that reflects their learning experience at a reception for the mentors in the spring. Approximately 60 students successfully completed the application process to enter the program this year. Betty Burdick and Gwen Banks are the teacher-coordinators of the program.
