Educational Technology
The effective use of technology is vital to student success, as technology touches every aspect of our daily lives in the twenty-first century. The York County School Division is a recognized leader in the use of technology to enhance learning, teaching, engagement and assessment.
The division is committed to supporting research-based best practices to provide students with the tools and resources that increase opportunities for authentic, meaningful and innovative educational experiences. New and emerging technologies are investigated and evaluated to support personalized learning in preparing all students to make productive contributions in the world.
5-Year Educational Technology Plan
A long-range Educational Technology Plan is the living document that guides the work and planning for educational technology. The plan is adopted by the School Board every five years and is reviewed annually by a division technology committee.
Technical Support
Students and families with questions related to technology, such as Canvas, Office 365, iPads, Chromebooks, etc., can contact the YCSD IT Help Desk at 757-527-4819 or by email between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Emails or calls received outside those hours will be returned the next business day.

1:1 Technology
The 1:1 Technology Program provides devices for all students in grades 3-12.
Canvas
YCSD has adopted a learning management system (LMS), Canvas to support student learning.
Microsoft Office 365
YCSD utilizes Microsoft Office 365 to provide staff and students access to Microsoft tools and applications.
Aspen
The Aspen Family Portal provides parents/guardians with secure access to private student data.
Clever
Clever brings educational applications into one secure portal and provides single sign-on for students and staff.
Internet Safety
YCSD teachers incorporate digital wellness and online safety skills into the curriculum to help students navigate technology in healthy and productive ways.
Acceptable Use Policy
All students and staff must complete this form annually.
