Military Families
We are proud to serve a large and diverse population of military-connected students and families from every branch of the United States Armed Forces. We understand that military life often includes relocations, deployments, transitions, and unique educational considerations. Our goal is to make your move to York County and our schools as smooth as possible.
Whether you are preparing to enroll your child, transferring from another school division or state, or looking for support services and community resources, we are here to help your family navigate the transition. York County School Division is committed to supporting military-connected students through strong partnerships with military installations, school liaison officers and community organizations.

Purple Star Schools
The York County School Division is a proud participant in the Purple Star Designation Program. Purple Star Schools are recognized by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children for demonstrating their commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families. These schools actively support our military-connected families in a variety of ways.
To earn the Purple Star designation, the schools must meet the requirements in each of these areas:
- Point of Contact
- Student Ambassador Program
