School Nutrition Services

A tray with a sandwich, orange slices, cucumber, and watermelon sits on a counter in front of a blurred cafeteria background.

Summer Food Service Program

Through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), kids of all ages can get meals and snacks during the summer at no cost at schools, parks, and other neighborhood locations. SFSP may have a different name where you live, but the benefit is the same: nutritious meals for kids and teens in the summer when school is out. Every child aged 18 and under can enjoy no-cost summer meals.

YCSD participates in the USDA sponsored nutrition program which ensures schools provide healthy, balanced meals which meet or exceed federal nutrition standards. Our Food Services partner, Sodexo, offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options daily to support student growth and learning.

Family members planning to visit students during lunch are encouraged to notify the school in advance. Students may not leave school grounds during lunch and meals purchased from restaurants should not be delivered to the school during the school day.

Payment Options

Students may pay for meals on a daily or weekly basis. Funds to purchase meals and á la carte items can be added to a student’s account using our online platform, MySchoolBucks, or by making payments directly to the school. Neither the cafeteria nor the school can accept lunch charges.

MySchoolBucks helps families to monitor account balances and can schedule email alerts when balances are low. Families also can view what their children are purchasing each day. Families wishing to place restrictions on á la carte item spending should contact the YCSD Manager of School Nutrition Services at 757-898-0485. If you have questions about MySchoolBucks, visit their online frequently asked questions section.
