Communications & Engagement
The award-winning staff in the Communications & Engagement Department work to keep families, employees and other stakeholders informed and engaged through effective two-way communication. The division uses multiple platforms, including this website, social media, YCSD-TV, rapid notification systems and community forums to provide information and seek input.
The school division welcomes and encourages news coverage from local media outlets. The public relations and communications officer is responsible for responding to media inquiries, arranging staff interviews and coordinating campus access.
The public relations and communications officer also assists members of the public with requests for information made in accordance with Virginia's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
