Tabb High Wears Black to Support Anti-Bulling Campaign

In their continuing effort to stop bulling, the Tabb High School (THS) Chapter of Rachel's Challenge sponsored a wear black day on Friday March 2. The THS student body, faculty and staff wore black to school on Friday to show their support for this very important and ongoing campaign. Mr. LaSalle Blanks, news anchor from WVEC Television Channel 13, stopped in on Friday during the campaign awareness events. A short segment was taped for later broadcast for WVEC.


YFPE, Inc. Grant Awarded to Joyce Kuberek

Joyce Kuberek, science teacher at Tabb High School (THS), is the latest York Foundation for Public Education, Inc. (YFPE, Inc.) grant recipient from THS. Joyce will use the funds to purchase software designed to allow her to record her teaching called Camtasia. She will use it to video record lessons like capturing worksheets to view on the screen with teachers demonstrating how to solve the problems and accompanying audio to explain the work. This can be saved for student viewing at other times.


Yorktown Middle Choral Connection Pancake Breakfast

The Yorktown Middle School (YMS) Choral Department will be sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the YMS cafeteria. Cost is $5 per person for all you can eat and children 2 years and under are free. Baked Goods and Gift Basket raffles will also be available. All proceeds benefit the students of the YMS choral department. All community members are invited. For more information, please call 833-2371.


Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair

The Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair will be held Saturday, March 10 at the Webb Center at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. Student projects are open for public viewing from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.. The Awards Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. There will be 50 student entries from the York County School Division on display.

Water’s Edge Church Shares "Love" with Tabb Middle

As part of the second annual LOVE WEEK campaign sponsored by Water’s Edge Church, over 50 church volunteers helped to beautify the school grounds at Tabb Middle School (TMS) on Saturday, February 25th. Activities included painting, raking, weeding, mulching, trimming and planting in various areas around the school.

Wednesday, February 22, Yorktown Middle School (YMS) 6th grade students, Josh Cash and Lily Beale, along with York High School (YHS) senior Mary Davis, beautified our main entrance flower beds by weeding, planting flowers and spreading mulch. They volunteered at YMS as part of Water's Edge Church's LOVE WEEK campaign.


Tabb Middle Math Counts Team Places 1st

Tabb Middle School (TMS) students in grades 6-8 participated in the Peninsula Chapter Math Counts competition on February 11 at NASA against eight other teams. TMS's Math Counts team of four won first place. All the students participated in the individual competition. Tabb Middle's Alex Zhou, an 8th grader came in 2nd overall. Five of our individual competitors ranked in the top 14, out of approximately 70 competitors.


Yorktown Middle Athletic Director Receives Apple Award!

Yorktown Middle School (YMS) Athletic Director, Mark Meadows, recently received YCSD's Apple Award for going above and beyond the call of his Athletic Director duties. Superintendent Eric Williams, Ed.D., presented Mr. Meadows with his award of achievement. Congratulations Mark.


Grafton High National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Please join us as we congratulate Grafton High School (GHS) seniors Rose Mulherin and Joy Putney who have been named finalist in the 2012 Competition for National Merit Scholarships. Rose and Joy were selected from 16,000 semi-finalists nationwide who met all the requirements to advance to Finalist standing.
