In 2009, Kathryn Callaway, a second grade teacher and Earth Kids Leader at Dare, applied for and received a Lowes' Outdoor Education Grant. With help from volunteers, Earth Kids’, Dare PTA and staff members, the Old Oak Outdoor Learning Center has become a reality complete with benches, picnic tables, planters, bird feeders, bird bath and a birdhouse.
